Soakin Up The Sun And A Craft Day

Austen is loving preschool so much and I am shocked at how quickly he is learning his letters. In fact on the days that he doesn't have school he gets sad, so I try and do little activities with him to keep him from getting bored and getting into too much trouble.
This pic is unrelated to this post, but I had to include it because I think it's so cute!
Here's our craft of the day last week.....we made a huge mess, but had lots of fun!
And the finished product.....he wanted an angry butterfly.

Hero Worship

Austen is just a little obsessed with his Daddy and who can blame him? Brian is seriously the BEST kind of Dad there is.
They love to take boys only trips to Home Depot and to rent movies and Austen LOVES for Brian to tell him "stories from your mouth" as Austen calls it. (These are stories you make up as opposed to reading from a book.) They are so cute together it's just ridiculous!
Austen seriously wanted to go to the store with Brian in these shoes the other day.

How cute is this story time pic? I love it!

Happy Face

When Austen isn't getting in to things, he's a lot of fun!!! He has Brian and I laughing pretty much non stop. We love to all get on the bed (even the dog) and play. Here are some pics from our last play time.

Austen Has Stealth For A Super Power

I have definitely learned by now that I can't have Austen anywhere I can't see him, I can't turn my back on him, and I definitely can't trust him in another room by himself (especially bathrooms) but I have learned this week that I can't even put my head down when he's right in front of me.
I had a cracked bottle of nail polish out on the counter in the kitchen so I would remember to take it back to the store. I was in the kitchen shredding chicken and Austen was standing up to the pony bar on a chair watching a show on T.V. Or so I thought. I put my head down to shred the chicken and within a few seconds I started to smell nail polish. When I looked up he had already painted all the nails on one whole hand. I'm telling you he is the fastest kid ever.....and quiet too. I didn't hear one single thing. Stealthy I tell ya!
And not too bad at painting nails.

Spring Is Here!

I am so happy that it's finally starting to warm up! We are sick of being stuck inside and Austen is ready to be free to run and run and run.
I took him to the park yesterday and he had a great time playing on all the stuff there. He is a little monkey this year climbing on everything!

Sunday Happenings

We love Sunday around here.....we are usually very lazy and I am not (or amn't as Austen likes to say) ashamed to admit it. We had a great Sunday yesterday filled with a few projects around the house, family, awesome food, and of course a bubble bath.

Banished To The Rug

For some reason when I go into the kitchen to cook the little man and the dog will not leave me alone. Our kitchen is small enough with just me in it and I don't need extra bodies in there to trip over, so they have both been banished to sit on the rug if they want to be in there. Am I the meanest or what?
Look at that sad face.

I Have Been Reminded That Nothing Is Austen-Proof

I had quite the scare yesterday when, after coming in from getting the dog back in the house, Austen informed me that he drank the Advil water and it made him grow big. I had no idea what he was talking about so I just said "really" and kept walking. That's when I noticed that the bottle of children's Advil that was on the counter from the night before was opened and empty. He somehow opened the "childproof" bottle (that is hard for me to open) and drank the entire thing. I immediately called poison control where they assured me that it is nearly impossible to overdose on ibuprofen and definitely not from drinking a 4 oz bottle. I was reassured, but still a little worried, so I called my dad and he was able to calm me down. Brian even offered to come home from golf, which is monumental.
Luckily it was Advil and not Tylenol, but lesson learned nonetheless. Today all of our medications are locked away in a safe that would be very difficult for Austen to get into......I'm not going to say impossible because, well you never know with him, but difficult for sure.

Demolition Time

Remember that cute snowman my boys built? Well Austen decided to take out all his aggression on it.

And sadly it is no more.

Winter Came A Little Late This Year

We finally had a big snowfall. It was really the first major snow we've had all year. I think I was more excited about it than Austen. I bundled us all up and took Austen sledding for his first time. It was just him and I, so I couldn't take any pictures, but it was super fun! We made snow angels, sledded down a hill, and threw snow balls down a drain. Then we came home and made hot chocolate.
Austen and Daddy took advantage of all the snow and made the coolest snowman (also a first for Austen).

Brian got really creative and used spray paint for all the trimmings.

Family Day Children's Museum

We had an awesome family day last Saturday. We took Austen to one of his favorite places in the whole world.....the Children's Museum.
It was so much fun! Grandma Linda joined us and Austen loved dragging her everywhere and bossing her around.

The grocery store part is hands down his favorite.
He was also loving collecting the eggs from the chickens.
