What A Weekend!

And it's only half over!
I have to say that I've had a rough week.  Austen has developed an attitude and I'm really struggling with how to parent him.  It is difficult.  He is testing his limits and back talking and not listening and it's getting old.  Everyone warns you about the terrible twos when you have kids, but I have to say that two was fun, four....not so much.  Oh well, we will get through it....hopefully with my sanity in tact.
Luckily Archer is the best, sweetest baby ever because if he was a difficult baby, I'm not sure how I'd be doing right now.

Anyway, I needed a nice, fun, and relaxing weekend to recover from being terrorized by a little four year old.  Friday night I was lucky enough (thanks to my awesome Mom) to be able to spend some alone time with Brian.  We haven't been on a date in forever, so I figured we needed one bad.  I didn't care what we did, I just needed to do something, so I planned a little golf adventure for us.  I have to say that even though I hadn't golfed in three years, it was really fun!
Saturday we woke up, got the house ready for a showing, and headed up the mountain for a family hike. I found some hikes online that are supposed to be kid friendly and I'm happy to say this one definitely was.  It was steep, but not too long and the reward was a pretty waterfall.  Austen loved every second of it!  He was collecting acorns and rocks and sticks the whole way!  Brian wore the baby, Austen carried his Captain American shield and sword (he won't put that shield down, he even sleeps with it) and I had the camera and backpack of supplies.

My boys at the trailhead.

Halfway up and this amazing view.

Austen even found a couple of small caves to explore.

Archer loves to be outside, so he loved the hike.

 We finally reached the waterfall!
It was kinda measly, but I bet in the spring this would be beautiful.
I let him take off his shoes and play in the water.

Then we climbed up the rocks to get closer to the falls.

He thought it would be funny to send his empty water bottle down the waterfall.

 Going down was steep.....
So Brian found Austen a walking stick.

 Another cave

The view from the top....so pretty and so much fun.  Austen is already asking me when we can go back.
