Austen-isms

Austen is back in school this week which was very much needed!  He was starting to get bored and that's never a good thing with him.  His teacher wants them to learn their address, phone number, birthday, and how to write their name before school gets out at the end of this month so we have been working on those.  He memorized them all really quickly and spouts them off all the time which is really cute for some reason.  He is constantly saying really funny stuff and also some not so funny stuff (he has learned idiot, butt head, and shut up from school and I'm trying to curb his use of these words).  Last night I told him I loved him more than anything and to always remember that and his response was.... "I'll remember that you're not an idiot."  Gee, thanks Austen.

He loves to climb into the playmat with the baby....it's really cute!
And while I was folding the never ending laundry he was sharing some important life lessons with Archer.  When he was done he said "I love you Archer.  I love you all the way to the moon and back."
I teared up when I heard that because it's just about the sweetest thing ever!

Keeping Austen Busy

We have been doing a lot of crafty things around here lately to try and keep Austen entertained.  We can't just pick up and go as easily as we used to, so we've been staying home a lot more than he's used to.  Luckily he loves playdough, painting, and other at home activities.

Archer is doing well and growing way too fast!  He is the best baby in the world.....I thought Austen was a good baby, but Archer is making me rethink that.  He never cries unless he's hungry or needs a diaper change and when I take him out to the grocery store he either sleeps the whole time or looks around not making a peep.  He smiles a lot and the last two days it seems like he's trying to make noises on purpose in response to us talking to him.  He sleeps great at night and even went 5 hours between feedings the other night.  I'm sad he's growing so fast, but I'm also excited to see his little personality emerge.

Austen loves being a big brother and has even helped change a messy diaper.  He loves to talk to Archer and cuddle with him.  He is such a good boy!

Archer-isms

Archer is 4 weeks old today!
I can't believe how fast time goes by once they get here.
He grunts a lot.....he does it more than he cries.  He grunts his displeasure at things like being woken up or moved and he grunts when we try to shove a passa in his mouth.  He loves to snuggle with Mommy and he loves to smile at Daddy. He hates to be touched and bothered while he's sleeping.  He loves his forehead rubbed, he loves his swing, and the obvious one, he loves to eat!

My sister came over and took these amazing pictures of the boys.

How good are they? I can't wait to have them blown up so I can put them on the picture wall.

Catchin Sleep

Ok, Ok, I'm waving the white flag.  I've made it almost four weeks, but the lack of sleep is finally getting to me.  I'm tired!  AND Archer sleeps really well!  It's just hard getting up every 2, 3, or 4 hours especially because he might sleep for hours at a time, but after I'm done changing and feeding him it takes a while for me to get back to sleep.  Even with all the sleep deprivation, I'm still on cloud nine!  Having two kids is amazing and so much better than I ever imagined!  I could not be happier.

We are trying to catch sleep whenever we can though.

Even Austen.....poor guy, I have really messed with his strict schedule. (he is still carrying around the bowl because he's afraid he's going to throw up.)

Daddy is tired too even though he doesn't technically get up with the baby in the night.  He wakes up whenever we do and always checks to make sure everything is alright.

Bath Time And Playtime

Archer LOVES bath time!
I was a little surprised by this because Austen hated it when he was new and would scream through most of it.  Archer loves it and cries when we take him out.

Austen loves to help "soap him up".

Austen is a little disappointed that Archer doesn't really play......Austen tries so hard though.  He even got in the playmat with the baby.  It's really cute to see them together and it makes us feel like even more of a family.  Austen is especially excited that he doesn't have to sit in the backseat alone anymore!

Can You Tell?

Which is Archer and which is Austen?
I didn't realize they looked so much alike until I was browsing through some pics of Austen as a new baby.

Archer Brought Austen A Gift

Archer brought Austen a really cool train table when he was born to thank him for being his big brother.  Brian was less than thrilled about the 7 million pieces it came in, but they finally got it put together and Austen loves it!
(I forgot to get a pic of the finished product, but here are some of them putting it together.)

Life is getting back to normal around here now that Austen's not sick.  Well, our new normal anyway.  I am so obsessed with my little Archer man!  I can not get enough of him and I'm a little sad that he's almost 3 weeks old.  He is a really good baby and he sleeps great at night usually going 3-4 hours between nighttime feedings.  I keep him really full during the day which I think helps.  The only problem is that he HATES his passa.  I can't believe I have a child who won't take one, but there's still time to work on it.
