Word Of The Week

Austen has been so funny lately with the stuff he's been saying.
He'll start to understand a new word and then he'll use it ALL the time.
Last week it was "now".
Examples:
"All done sleeping now."
(which he would yell out in the morning)
"Watch Woody now."
Etc. Etc.
You get the point.

Well this week his new word is "actually".
This was apparently one of my most used words when I was younger, so it's extra funny for my family to hear him say it.
(I guess I still say it quite frequently.)
We were coloring the other day when he held up a crayon and said "pen". I didn't argue since I've learned it's pointless with him.
Then he said "actually crayon".
I thought that was hilarious and adorable at the same time.
In fact I still laugh when I think about it.

He has also started memorizing books and then reading them word for word back to himself.
The first time I heard him do it, I was literally shocked especially because I had only read him that particular book a handful of times.
He is more into books right now than he ever has been and I'm loving every second of it.
Isn't reading to kids the best?!?!
I love it!
We've been visiting the library at least once a week even though he sent Brian's library card to live down the return air vent.
In fact as we were leaving the library today he yelled "bye people" as loud as possible.
Everyone turned to look.
He was so proud!!!

P.S. no pics today, I can't get them to load right now.
I figured a post with no pics is better than no post at all.

Is It STILL Winter??

Alright, I'm officially sick of the cold and wind and slushy gross snow!!! I handle the winter so much better when there is nice fluffy white snow outside. When it's like that, we can bundle up and go play out there, but this 18 degrees and windy is not working for me. I seriously don't even want to leave the house. So we don't, and then I'm stuck inside with a bored two year old. When he gets bored, he gets naughty, and then I get even more annoyed that it's freeeeezing outside. As you can see it's a bad cycle. So for now, I'll just think warm thoughts and mentally prepare myself for yet another afternoon shut in the house playing playdough.

Don't want to listen to my complaining??? Well I should tell you that it's bad for you too! I mean how many pictures do you really want to see of Austen playing inside with his toys??? Hopefully the answer was at least 3 more because that's what we've got today.

Here's the little man playing with his new garbage truck.
He gets really creative about the stuff he wants to put in the back!

His new saw that Daddy got him for his birthday.
This kid loves all things tools!

Can you tell he's a little excited about his new golf clubs?
Now only if it were warm enough to go outside and actually use them.....

Next time I promise to be in a better mood when I blog.....that is if I still have any readers after this rant.

Two Peas In A Pod

Austen has become a total daddy's boy lately. At 6:00 every evening he'll start crying for Daddy and then he'll say "be home soon?". It's very cute and sad and also a little frustrating especially on the nights Brian doesn't get home until late. I can't do anything to make him feel better, not even Toy Story will work.

This new development does have an upside though.....Austen only wants Daddy to put him to bed. It is a much needed break after two solid years of doing it myself!

Austen is getting more interested in books lately.
Here's daddy reading to him.

Austen loves it when daddy gives him rides in our ottoman top, so Austen figured Sophie should love it too. (Sophie and Goofy and Mickey)
He puts them in and says "hold on" while he pulls them around.

Last Birthday Post......I Promise

I know I've gone overboard with the birthday posts, but these pictures are too cute to not share.

I gave him a cupcake after his lunch.

He discovered if he ate it like this, he could keep his hands clean.

My attempt at Toy Story Alien cupcakes

His Toy Story cake with his all time favorite candy......M&Ms

Some of the cousins

Blowing out the candles

He was more into his root beer than his cake.

Presents!!!!

Birthday Part 2 1/2

Cousins came over and we had cake and ice cream.
Austen loved all the attention and I got some VERY cute pics, but for some reason Blogger won't let me load them.....I've been trying for the last two days.
So this post isn't titled Birthday Part 3 like I intended
It's 2 1/2 because it's just a sneak peak until I can get the rest of the pictures up.

Birthday Part 2......We Love A Good Surprise

The night before Austen's birthday Brian and I decked out the house with birthday stuff. Balloons, a Toy Story banner, and streamers. (This is the kind of stuff you do when you only have one child.)

When he woke up in the morning he was in awe of the transformation.
It was the cutest thing ever!

Then he found the real Woody and Buzz waiting for him on the couch.
(we took them out of the boxes the night before which seriously took 2 adults at least 20 min.)

He was super excited and he hasn't put them down since.

I've been so excited to give these to him. I've had the Woody since Oct.!

It's My Birthday Part 1

We had such a fun weekend for Austen's birthday and we took about 10 million pictures to prove it. There is no way I can fit everything into 1 post so I'm going to have to make it 2 or 3.

On Saturday morning we took Austen to a place that has indoor rides. Two of his cousins came so he wouldn't have to go on all the rides alone. He had way more fun than I was expecting and even after almost 3 hours there, he didn't want to leave.

We put him on this swing thing first and he HATED it!
He kept saying "all done" and "get down" every time he went past us.
If you look closely you can see he has a scared/sad face.

He loved this flying airplane thing. The airplanes went up and down and he loved it!
He kept telling me to make it go "up high".
I had to go with him and I barely fit in the stupid things!

Daddy and Austen in the spinning cups! Austen liked it, but Brian was dizzy!

Getting to drive a jeep through the jungle.

Riding the carousel. He would say "up and down" the entire time it was going.

He loved this arcade. He finally got to drive for real.
