Just Being A Boy

I took Austen out to the lake the other day for some much needed boy time.
Sometimes he has way too much boy energy for the house and he just needs to find sticks, climb on things, get dirty, and throw rocks to get it all out.

A Day At The Fair....Petting Zoo Edition

The petting zoo at the fair was so much fun!
You could buy a cup full of carrots to feed the animals and other than the pushy goats, the animals were all super mellow.
Austen had so much fun because he loves animals.
See if you can pull out a theme......

Feeding a goat a carrot.

Trying to feed a donkey.

Hugging a donkey.

Petting the tortoise.

Testing out the strength of his shell.

Petting a baby camel.

Hugging a baby camel.

Feeding a carrot to a baby cow.

Hugging a goat.

Hugging a baby pony.

I always knew Austen was a little cuddler, but I had no idea it spilled over to animals as well!
He is a hugger!!!
This might also explain the high fever..... :)

A Day At The Fair

We went to the fair again this year, but instead of the one we went to last year, we decided to try the Salt Lake County Fair.
It was much better than the Salt Lake Fair, which we will never go back to.

Anyway.....there was a lot of fun stuff to see and do.

Austen got to smash a car with a sledgehammer......every man's dream!
He even got to play a game to try and win a prize.

This is what he won......doesn't he look thrilled???
By this time he was ready to go, but he loves the ball I swear!

There was all sorts of FFA animals that had won prizes and even a petting zoo that was probably the highlight of the trip.
So much so that it deserves it's own post.....coming up next.

Jungle Jim's Again And Some Sleepless Nights.

Austen had a high fever the other night and I was so confused because he had no other symptoms, but he was seriously burning up.
We loaded him up with meds and stuck him in cool bath and that seemed to help, but I was so worried about him I hardly slept at all.
He seems to be doing fine now and the only thing I can think of was that it had to be his last molar coming in.
It's broken through now and he no longer has a fever, so I'm hoping we're all clear over here.
Anyway......on to the fun stuff.

Hope you're not too sick of seeing pictures of us at Jungle Jim's because we go there quite a bit.
It is seriously one of Austen's favorite places!
My sister got a pass for a really good price, so we'll be going a bunch more times before it expires.
He really had a lot of fun this last time we went.
He was with two of his cousins and that makes everything more fun!

Hailey even let him steer the airplane and you can see from the look on his face he was so excited about that!

Driving the jeep.

I even talked him into trying the swing again.
He was hesitant considering the first time he went on it he cried the whole time and wanted to get off!
This time he actually loved it and went more than once.

And of course riding the carousel.
He pretends he's riding the talking donkey from the movie Shrek or Bullseye from Toy Story.

How cute are those smiles???

Summer Rain Storm

We had a freak thunderstorm the other day.
It was seriously crazy!
The rain seemed to come out of no where and water was rushing down our street.
Austen and Daddy of course had to go play in it.
According to them the water was really warm.

So yes, that is my child playing in the gutter.

And because dipping the elbow in wasn't good enough......

Of course jumping and splashing were involved too!

A REAL Big Boy Bed

I don't want to brag or anything.....okay, that's pretty much all I do on this blog, but I have the most amazing family in the whole world. My very generous Grandma offered us a twin bed for Austen and when we went down to pick it up not only was it a mattress, but a box spring, a really nice frame with wheels, and a super cute headboard. I was not expecting all the trimmings, so THANK YOU Grandma J!

Austen was excited to get a real big boy bed because he wasn't really fooled by us taking off the front panel of his crib and calling it a big boy bed. He knew it was still just a crib.

We got it all set up and were planning to use a super cute quilt my Mom is in the process of making for Austen, but when we went to Target to find some sheets Austen saw a truck quilt and was so excited about it. He even told me he wanted it "so bad". So I figured since the whole rest of the bed was free and we didn't have to buy a headboard we could spring for the cute bedding.

Here are the boys putting it together.

And Austen posing in front of his real bed.

If you know Austen, you know he is so into trucks and tractors and pretty much any heavy machinery so this is perfect for him. He even wants to make his bed every morning!

But......I'm sure this is his favorite thing about the new bed.

REAL bouncing......crib mattresses aren't very bouncy.

A Day On The Lake

My parents live in an amazing place where there are so many fun things to do.
One of those things is kayaking on a lake.
Austen watched his cousin do it a while ago and has been wanting to do it ever since.
He finally got that chance and he loved it!

Here he is with Grandma and Grandpa.

He would not let Grandma paddle.....he kept telling her
"that's mine Grandma, not yours".

There were some ducks floating nearby and he thought that was pretty neat.

And he kept telling Grandpa to go faster......of course.
