Summer Rain Storm

We had a freak thunderstorm the other day.
It was seriously crazy!
The rain seemed to come out of no where and water was rushing down our street.
Austen and Daddy of course had to go play in it.
According to them the water was really warm.

So yes, that is my child playing in the gutter.

And because dipping the elbow in wasn't good enough......

Of course jumping and splashing were involved too!

A REAL Big Boy Bed

I don't want to brag or anything.....okay, that's pretty much all I do on this blog, but I have the most amazing family in the whole world. My very generous Grandma offered us a twin bed for Austen and when we went down to pick it up not only was it a mattress, but a box spring, a really nice frame with wheels, and a super cute headboard. I was not expecting all the trimmings, so THANK YOU Grandma J!

Austen was excited to get a real big boy bed because he wasn't really fooled by us taking off the front panel of his crib and calling it a big boy bed. He knew it was still just a crib.

We got it all set up and were planning to use a super cute quilt my Mom is in the process of making for Austen, but when we went to Target to find some sheets Austen saw a truck quilt and was so excited about it. He even told me he wanted it "so bad". So I figured since the whole rest of the bed was free and we didn't have to buy a headboard we could spring for the cute bedding.

Here are the boys putting it together.

And Austen posing in front of his real bed.

If you know Austen, you know he is so into trucks and tractors and pretty much any heavy machinery so this is perfect for him. He even wants to make his bed every morning!

But......I'm sure this is his favorite thing about the new bed.

REAL bouncing......crib mattresses aren't very bouncy.

A Day On The Lake

My parents live in an amazing place where there are so many fun things to do.
One of those things is kayaking on a lake.
Austen watched his cousin do it a while ago and has been wanting to do it ever since.
He finally got that chance and he loved it!

Here he is with Grandma and Grandpa.

He would not let Grandma paddle.....he kept telling her
"that's mine Grandma, not yours".

There were some ducks floating nearby and he thought that was pretty neat.

And he kept telling Grandpa to go faster......of course.

Chef Austen's Dinner Party

Austen and Brian are huge fans of the t.v. show wipeout and they try to recreate the obstacles from the show in our family room.
It's Austen's favorite thing in the world!
One night after a wipeout session (which is why our couch is torn apart), Chef Austen decided to cook dinner for all his friends.

Friday Favorites

I have been a huge blogging slacker, but don't worry I have plenty of posts coming your way!
You are about to get bombarded with all the things we've been doing.
Unfortunately I haven't been taking as many pictures as usual, but I still have some good ones.
Here are my most recent favs!

We agreed to doggy sit my brothers super cute dog while they were away on vacation. I can't even tell you how much Austen loved having him here. He gave him the nickname of Gizzywizzy in the first 3o mins he was here. I mostly think he liked having a dog around that actually didn't bite when you pet him unlike our crazy child-hating dog.

This pic made the list because of the leg crossing. He crosses his legs like that all the time.....I even have an ultrasound picture of him doing that exact same pose.

This pic needs no caption.....it's just plain cute!

I don't know if he thinks he's gansta or what, but he insists on wearing his hat like that!

What Was I Thinking???

I've committed the cardinal blogging sin......

Last night we went somewhere new and super fun and I FORGOT my camera!
Actually we had a full day of fun and I didn't take one single picture.
I'm so fired!!!

Brian decided to take a random day off and Austen had LOTS of boy energy that he needed to get out so we headed over to the splash pool.
We were even joined by some cousins there and Austen had so much fun!

After a long nap we decided to go to Planet Play.
They have a huge dinner buffet and tons of arcade games along with mini golf, bowling, go karts, and a playground.
Needless to say Austen was having the time of his life running from game to game. He even kept telling Brian to go faster when they were driving in the go kart. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, Brian or Austen, but we had so much fun!
I'm sure we'll be going again soon, and I will make sure to remember the camera!

Randomness

Austen is getting better at building potato head with the right parts in the right places and I have to admit it's a little sad.
I loved his creations that had no rhyme or reason.....well at least to me.

He loves to play in the backyard and pretend he is a worker.
He puts on his worker hat and does little jobs around the backyard.
He cracks me up!

The real reason for the post today is as follows.
We were out on the porch watching an epic rain storm when this conversation took place.
Austen: "Dad come over here and hold me."
Brian: didn't respond (shocking I know)
Austen: "Dad obey me."

We couldn't help but laugh, but I think it also scared us for our future a lot!
