Teaser Post

It's that time of year again.....

Ya know, the time when you have to start thinking about costumes and pumpkin carving and that kind of stuff.

The previous two years have been pretty easy in the costume department, because I just got whatever I thought was cute.

(Well, last year I took Austen to the store with me and let him pick between three options, but still pretty easy.)

This year he has been wanting to be all sorts of things and he changes his mind a lot.

It was kind of stressing me out, but I am proud to say he finally found one that he is excited about and hasn't changed his mind since we bought it.

Fingers crossed he doesn't change his mind in the next 17 days.

Anyway, I'm not going to tell you what he's going to be because I'm going to make you wait for pictures.....I'll just tell you that it's super cute and he is very excited!

Now I just have to figure out the pumpkin carving thing and we'll be set for Halloween.

It's Getting Warmer!

Maybe winter isn't here.....yet.

Yesterday was really fun. Austen and I headed down to my Grandma's to go through some of my Great Grandma's stuff. She had an unbelievable collection of salt and pepper shakers and I got to take some. Brian even gave me a shelf in the curio cabinet to put them on. After Austen's nap it was warm enough for a walk, so we headed out, but it got cut short because I had a major stomach ache. Anyway, we at least got outside for a while.

Here's some pics of Austen outside playing.....not from yesterday, but cute nonetheless.

Here he is pretending to take a nap in the sand.

Raking the bark

Ok....so maybe not my best post yet, but don't worry posting every day is NOT causing me to run out of material. I have plenty, but I am too lazy to upload more pics from my camera this morning.

I Have No Will Power

I bought Austen this really cool backhoe toy at Costco that was supposed to be for Christmas, but I gave in and let him play with it already.

It's so cute, and he's been bored because we're stuck inside......you can clearly see I've justified this to myself with many reasons.

Anyway, he seriously loves it and plays with it non stop. It's scoop moves and it drives forward and backward all with the push of a button.

Also, his other new obsession is Bob The Builder.....he could watch it all day if I let him.

And it came with workers....what could be better???

I Don't Think I'll Be Leaving Ever Again

I occasionally leave Brian and Austen alone, but when I do I always come home to find strange pictures on my camera. This last batch happened when I went to get my hair done.

Austen got into the fingernail polish (luckily it was clear) and painted his toenails and fingernails.

Then apparently Brian stuck him in the dog kennel.

(Brian claims Austen loves it....)

Then Austen got in the dryer.

*Disclaimer: Brian really is a great Dad, the problem is that he doesn't know all of Austen's little tricks and manipulations like I do. Also, I think he leaves him alone too long without checking on him.....I mean it must have taken a while to paint all his toes and fingers.

Everyone Could Use A Good Laugh On Monday

So here you go.....

We bought Austen an awesome toy edger and a blower and these safety goggles came with.

He just likes to wear them randomly while playing and it cracks me up.

Notting Hill memories anyone???

Attack Of The Killer Tomato Bush

I think I've mentioned my giant, out of control tomato plant before on the blog, but I don't think I've mentioned my near death experience with the plant before. This thing was so big that it grew down in our window well! I found some nice big, red, tomatoes down there so I balanced myself on the edge of the window well and tried to pick them. Being me, I slipped, of course and fell. I got the wind knocked out of me, scraped my wrist on the stucco, and got a huge bruise on my butt which took the brunt of the impact. Austen witnessed the whole thing and kept asking if I was ok as I laid motionless on the lawn trying to recover. Unfortunately, that was the exact moment Brian came home from work. Once he made sure I was ok, he started laughing and hasn't stopped since. Oh, and he banned me from trying to get the tomatoes from the window well without him.

Here it is. Next year I think I'll be trimming my tomatoes.

Here it is after I took my revenge and chopped it to bits.

It filled up 6 garbage bags and I found snail heaven underneath it.

There were at least 30 snails under there and they had been feasting on all the ripe tomatoes I couldn't find because the bush was too thick.

It Was A Cold Rainy/Snowy Day Yesterday

So we did what we always do on crappy weather days and headed to the Aquarium.

Austen loved it as usual......I don't know why, but he never gets sick of going there.

I didn't bother to take my camera; I figured you've seen enough pictures of us at the Aquarium.

So instead I posted pictures of Austen's re-creation of the Aquarium with his toys.

Here's the people looking at a beetle and a spider and another group of people reading the sign when you walk in.

The cup is the place where you're supposed to pay he told me.

He's always doing amazing things like this. I don't think you understand how long it took him to do this because he had to specifically seek out all the people and the bugs and everything. I'm not one of those organized mom's that keeps all the people toys together and all the bug toys together.......no, he had to go through the toy box and find exactly what he was looking for.

He has quite the imagination!
